New production studio Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic has unveiled an inaugural programming slate that includes a deal with global superstar Becky G.
The singer, actress and one of the executive producers of MTV’s reality show Becoming A Popstar, will produce an unscripted docuseries that follows emerging all-female Latin group ANGEL22.
In addition to being an executive producer, Becky G will also appear in the yet untitled series that will be co-produced with 2WS Films.

Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic, launched in September 2021 to create English and Spanish-language premium original content for broadcast, cable and streamers in Latin America and U.S. Hispanic markets, announced it will produce the next season of the Amazon
It is also creating a Latin American production hub for ຫົວດັງໆ based in Mexico City and overseen by studio head Marie Leguizamo, who has served as executive producer and showrunner for the last three seasons of the Mexico edition of ຫົວດັງໆ.
“Since we first announced the creation of Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic late last year, we hit the ground running and I couldn’t be more excited about our initial slate of programming, the tremendous talent we are in business with including Becky G and the experienced team that we have assembled,” says Leguizamo. “There is a tremendous demand for high quality, original content in this marketplace and we are 100% focused on creating series that will resonate with audiences of all ages.”
In addition to unveiling its initial slate of original programming, the studio hired its first staff members. Unscripted producer Andrea Hülsz was named Executive Director, Physical Production. She joins Leguizamo from fellow Banijay-owned studio Endemol Shine Boomdog, where she spent the last 10 years of her career, most recently as an executive producer, working on series such as Big Brother, Nailed It Mexico (Netflix
Also on board, Miguel Sanchez as Director of Development. He joins Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic from CMF Media, a production company he co-founded. He previously developed formats for Cristina Palacio’s production company Alibi. Writer, producer and podcaster Fernanda Ruiz was named Manager of Development. In 2015, Ruiz co-founded Kaptura Projects a studio focused on developing and producing original content projects.
Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic is scheduled to open its first offices and studio space in Mexico City’s Polanco district later this month.
