The title of biggest album in America this week belongs to Blackpink’s ເກີດສີບົວ, the sophomore full-length from the South Korean girl group. The set opens at No. 1 on the all-encompassing Billboard 200 albums ranking with 102,000 equivalent units, which is enough to bring them to the summit for the first time (and to make them the first female musical act from their home nation to rule the list).

ເກີດສີບົວ launches atop the Billboard 200 thanks in large part to pure purchases, which make up the majority of units moved in the first seven days the set was available. Fans across the U.S. purchased just over 75,000 copies of the title, with more than 50% of those being on CD.

With 75,000 copies sold in its first full frame of availability, ເກີດສີບົວ also easily conquered the Top Album Sales chart, which is focused solely on purchases (while the Billboard 200 also incorporates streams and other forms of consumption). Blackpink has now led the sales-only tally twice, and with a new win to their credit, they make history and match another major player in the K-pop space.

Blackpink is now tied with fellow South Korean band Twice for the most bestselling albums in the U.S. among female vocal groups known primarily for producing K-pop music. Both troupes have sent a pair of efforts to the throne on the Top Album Sales chart.

Blackpink first ruled the Top Album Sales chart in October 2020 with their debut full-length, ເວັບບອດ, which easily opened in first place. Twice earned their first No. 1 on the sales ranking in 2021 with ລົດຊາດຂອງຄວາມຮັກ and they increased that sum earlier this month with Between 1 & 2.

Looking at all K-pop acts, Blackpink is now tied with two other names for the fifth-most No. 1 titles on the Top Album Sales chart. In addition to Twice, the girl group is also on the same level as all-male vocal outfit SuperM. Ahead of them (when looking only at K-pop figures) in terms of the most leaders on the purchase-focused ranking are BTS (with six), Seventeen (four), and both NCT 127 and Tomorrow X Together (with three apiece).
