Deutsche Börse Group recently published its metrics for February 2022 and witnessed a substantial jump in the overall turnover in cash markets. In the recent month, Deutsche Börse’s cash markets saw a turnover of €205.4 billion, compared to €167.6 billion during the same period in 2021.

In terms of contribution towards overall turnover, Xetra remained at the top with €168.2 billion in the reported period, compared to €126.7 billion in the previous year. The average daily Xetra volume reached €8.4 billion in February 2022. The figure stood at €6.3 billion during the same period last year.

“By type of asset class, equities accounted for €169.7 billion in the entire cash market. Trading in ETFs/ETCs/ETNs generated a turnover of €33 billion. Turnover in bonds was €0.4 billion, in certificates €1.8 billion and in funds €0.3 billion. The DAX stock with the highest turnover on Xetra in February was SAP SE with €6.9 billion. Commerzbank AG led the MDAX with €1.8 billion, while Nordex SE led the SDAX index with €387 million. In the ETF segment, the iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF generated the largest volume with €1.6 billion,” Deutsche Börse highlighted.

Deutsche Börse witnessed a consistent jump in volumes and revenues throughout the last year. To expand its presence in the growing market of digital assets, the German marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and other securities, also announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Crypto Finance AG. In terms of revenue in 2021, Deutsche Börse met its expectations.

However, despite strong growth across cash markets, Deutsche Börse witnessed a dip in trading volumes related to Börse Frankfurt and Tradegate Exchange.

“Trading volumes on Börse Frankfurt were €4.7 billion (previous year: €6.1 billion) and on Tradegate Exchange €32.4 billion (previous year: €34.8 billion),” DB added.
