Centibillionaire Elon Musk bought Twitter on 27th October 2022. The deal which Musk was after since April this year and finally grabbed it with a hawkish move. From the day Tesla CEO officially took the social media company, several bold moves took place back to back. After a recent Tweet Musk posted on Twitter, it’s clear that in addition to already applied changes, more are on their way. 

On 9th October 2022, Musk went on to Twitter and while addressing his 115.1 million followers stated that the company will be doing “lots of dumb things” in upcoming months. He added to keep the changes which would work and change those that do not work. 

Musk has been quite active on Twitter and actively replying and resolving the issues people are asking for his attention towards. One such user requested the Twitter owner to remove the accounts inactive for about the last 15 years as they occupy so many usernames and they get wasted. In response, he said to the user “that’s coming.”

Not the First Move of Musk Since Twitter Takeover

With this to come along, it is obvious for people to think of more surprising moves from Musk witness in future, especially given the acts that took place following him taking the leadership of Twitter. 

The most popular change on Twitter following Musk’s takeover was to implement the proposal charging users a fee for ‘blue tick’. Earlier it was said to be about 20 USD which later dropped to 8 USD and Musk is serious about it. The subscription model would provide the blue tick holders several privileges over the normal users—higher priority in Tweets and replies and comparatively fewer ads, etc. 

Recently Musk has also indicated to permanently remove the accounts found to be involved in impersonation activities without mentioning it as a ‘parody’. While it was also said that users might end up losing their verified checkmarks temporarily while changing profile names. 

Musk’s Tweet Leaves People Confused 

What Elon Musk is up to is only he knows as whatever he did till now was more or less unexpected. The abrupt lay off of top executives from the company was one such instance. Chief executive officer Parag Agarwal, chief financial officer Ned Segan and head of legal policy, trust and safety, Vijaya Gadde were reported to be fired from Twitter

In addition, the company was said to lay off about 50% of working staff—about 3,700 employees. The decision of reducing the workforce unceremoniously was criticized by many but neither the company nor Musk backed off. Furthermore, it was said to be necessary in order to make the company profitable.
