ມ່ວນບໍ່ຢຸດ ແລະສຽງຫົວນອກທາງ

If you have never seen ສິ່ງ stranger, or are not familiar with it, my suggestion is to at least sample the addictive Netflix sci-fi horror-themed drama to understand what is going on Off-Broadway in Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical. Of course, it you care to just wing it, not knowing these characters and what these bizarre situations are, chances are your curiosity will bring you right to the real ສິ່ງ stranger after this energetic good-natured musical parody.

Either way, sit back, relax and enjoy the non-stop two-hours of music and comedy in Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical, a veritable locomotive of just plain old kooky escapist fun.

ການຕັ້ງຄ່າສໍາລັບການ Stranger Sings!: The Parody Musical is the intimate Playhouse 46 at St. Luke’s at 308 West 46th Street in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen just off Times Square. With seating for only 175 people in the rectangular theater, you are immediately thrust right into the season one events in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s following the disappearance of young Will Byers (who in this live musical telling is featured as a puppet at the hands of his frantic mother Joyce).

With book, music and lyrics by Jonathan Hogue, Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical tells the tale of the absence of young Will (who, in the series, disappears when researchers at the Hawkins National Laboratory open a gateway to the “Upside Down”, a hostile alternate dimension complete with monstrous humanoid creatures). When a young psychokinetic girl known as “Eleven” escapes from the laboratory, she helps Will’s friends Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson and Lucas Sinclair, and Will’s mother Joyce find him with the help of the rough and tough chief of police Jim Hopper, among other locals.

With the right looks and mannerisms, each member of the cast (particularly Jamie Lyn Beatty as Joyce as a fill-in for Caroline Huerta, Jeremiah Garcia as Dustin, and Nickolous Colon as Hopper) effectively capture the essence of their characters. And because ສິ່ງ stranger itself does not take itself all that seriously, mocking it a la this musical parody is a seamless transition. But, unlike the series, at the center of the story is Nancy’s buddy Barb (SLee) as the proverbial “frumpy best friend”, who following the particularly robust “Barb’s Turn” musical number becomes the true audience favorite. Justice for Barb!

If I had to nitpick, it would be at the conclusion of Stranger Sings The Parody Musical, when the entire cast broke out in dance. After two hours of sitting back and enjoying the fracas, I personally wanted to join them on stage. And I bet you will too!
