ທິປະພານ looks delightful. The new Dracula film stars two Nics—Nicolas Cage as the blood-sucking Count Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as his bug-eating manservant, Renfield. This is a modernized version of the Dracula story, taking place in the present, and it looks about as wacky as it sounds.
In the trailer, we see Renfield attending a support group to discuss his “toxic relationship” with his boss. It’s cute. I chuckled several times.
The official description reads:
In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men franchise) stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage). Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.
The film is being directed by Chris McKay who you may know from ໄກ່ຫຸ່ນຍົນ or The Lego Batman Movie. ພຣະອົງຍັງໄດ້ຊີ້ນໍາ ສົງຄາມມື້ອື່ນ which I still haven’t seen (reviews were not kind). More interestingly, for me at least, is the writer: Robert Kirkman, the creator of ໃນເວລາຍ່າງຕາຍ comics ແລະ ບໍ່ສາມາດເບິ່ງເຫັນໄດ້. Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment is behind production as well.
What’s also pretty funny about this is when you finally see Cage as Dracula at the end of the trailer, he looks just like another classic version of the vampire lord: Christopher Lee’s portrayal in The Horror Of Dracula:
Alongside Nicholas and Nicolas, the cast includes Awkwafina (The Farewell, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings), Ben Schwartz (Sonic, The Afterparty) and Adrian Martinez (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Focus). It looks fun!
